Virtual Active Week 2020

Welcome to Active Home Week 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello and welcome to Active Home Week 2020. Active Week is one of our favourite weeks of the year, packed with movement, sport, games and lots of fun. This year, with your help, we are hoping to recreate the week in all our homes.

Our Active School’s team has created a timetable of activities for the children to try every day. There is a balance of activities including exercise, dance, yoga and a Daily Active Challenge which will be shared on Class Dojo each morning. Each challenge will be recorded by a familiar face so make sure to check it out every day. Anyone who tries one of the challenges should take a picture or short video of 10 seconds or less and email it to challenge@stmarksjs.ie to enter a draw at the end of the week for some lovely prizes.

The aim of the week is that each child is active for 60 minutes every day. The timetable is a guide to help you but feel free to do as much or as little that suits you and your family at this time. Where possible we would love to see your whole household getting involved to make it more interactive and fun. Try to take some time every day as a family to get active; perhaps you could go for a walk, jog, cycle or play a game together outside.

To make it a bit easier we will not be setting any other school work this week. The focus should be on getting active at home and bringing some extra movement into our days. We would ask that you spend a bit of time reviewing the Water Safety Ireland presentations to teach your child about staying safe around water at home and the beach. The timetable has a link to their website which has further online activities.

The timetable is linked below. Finally along with the timetable there are some documents to help you with some of the activities this week. Don’t forget to keep an eye on Class Dojo during the week for the daily challenge and to send us your pictures and videos. Most importantly of course - have fun!

Thank you for your cooperation,
